Hope for Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury

If you spend any time reading or watching the news, are interested in professional sports or have children involved in athletics, you have been made aware of the prevalence and seriousness of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) or concussions. Some type of TBI is suffered by someone in the U.S. every 15 seconds and approximately 2% of the U.S. population are living with a disability as a result of TBI.

The symptoms of TBI include headache and neck pain, vertigo, visual impairment, tinnitus, memory loss, learning disorders, difficulty concentrating, sleep disorders, depression and others. A TBI is a life changing event for the sufferer and for their families. It is a difficult lifestyle change to say the least and up until now there really hasn’t been any effective treatment except to wait and watch for the injured person to heal as much as they can and provide social , cognitive and medical support as needed.

At Benessere we have an effective common sense approach to alleviating much of the suffering (although certainly not all of the symptoms) of TBI. The treatment is called Matrix Repatterning Therapy. New research at the Center for Brain Injury and Repair at the University of Pennsylvania is indicating that some of the injury in a TBI is to the mechanical structure of the cells of the brain, resulting in a sort of brittleness to the injured tissue. This brittleness is seemingly why people that have suffered concussions are more susceptible to future concussions. This brittleness, or injury to the scaffolding or structure of the cells is just what Matrix Repatterning Therapy (MRT) purports to treat and why we find clinically that we are able to reduce concussion symptoms in just a few one hour visits (usually about 3 to 5 visits).

Recently I attended a head injury seminar taught by a leading Twin Cities neurologist who specializes in TBI. His talk concluded with him saying that we really don’t have anything to help TBI’s. Treatment is rest, moderate exercise, eat well, don’t drink alcohol and wait. Most of you reading this article know someone who is just waiting. We find, however, that with Matrix Repatterning Therapy, our clients can have a significant reduction in symptoms, especially head and neck pain in about 3 to 5 one hour treatments for most people. But think about how much the reduction in head and neck pain alone can have a positive impact on symptoms like depression and difficulty with concentration and focus.

Matrix Repatterning Therapy does not heal a Traumatic Brain Injury, but by alleviating the physical tension within the bony structure surrounding the brain and brain stem it reduces physical symptoms and allows for healing to take place in a significantly less irritated environment.

If you know someone with a concussion/traumatic brain injury, I hope I can help them too. I always talk to clients on the phone before their first visit so we can both get a sense if this is the right therapy for them.

Matrix Repatterning Therapy is a very gentle, highly effective tool for the treatment of the effects of all sorts of impact injuries including Traumatic Brain Injury.

After playing hockey most of my life I received my share of bumps and bruises not to mention several concussions.  After receiving another concussion a year ago, I experienced several motor skill issues such as short term memory loss, hard time focusing, exhaustion, and a hard time keeping my balance.

I went to see Dr. Andy Stella at Beneserre, Body in Balance and after the first visit I started to see results. In fact after seeing Dr. Andy Stella I have to say my body has not felt this good since I was a teenager!

I highly recommend Dr Andy Stella to anyone that has experienced ANY physical trauma in their life.  Thanks for giving me back control of my life again Dr Andy!
